Divisional Plan

Professional Learning Funding provided by Manitoba Education - Please provide details below

1) To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?

08-09 - release time for teacher mentors, planning sessions, conferences and workshops

09-10 - All staff are attending the BYTE 2010 conference, release time is provided for teacher mentors, some other PD conferences/workshops/meetings are paid for.

2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do?

Lots of people received training for Smart Boards and Mimio, lots of teachers received release time to work with mentors, many more people were able to attend BYTE and Riding the Wave.

3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)

Mentor program will continue, BYTE conference is being held in Portage and the Division wide PD day is the same day so that staff can attend.

4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions?

Release time so that you can work with a mentor, technology support readily available to teachers.

We (those of us at this table) have not had any regarding LwICT but teachers have had questions regarding technology and it's use.

9) In certain circumstances, a child may have more than one teacher. How would/do your teachers report on a child's literacy with ICT in this circumstance? Please discuss with your divisional team and record some possible strategies to address this issue.

Transition to Senior Years

11) Thoughts on Literacy with ICT transition to the Senior Years

Teacher training is going to be necessary. Mentors are already working with teachers and technology at the high school

12 )Ongoing support for K-8 teachers

We want to continue with the mentorship program. Continue to add resources to the classrooms.
